Technical Session Update | SketchUp – Module 3 & 4
As part of the ongoing digital design training at the British Academy of Arts and Design (BAAD), I conducted Module 3 and Module 4 of SketchUp for Interior Design students, focusing on modification tools and 3D modeling fundamentals.
MODULE 3: Modification & Editing Tools
Students were introduced to essential editing tools that enhance modeling efficiency and precision, including:
* Move Tool
* Rotate Tool
* Scale Tool
* Offset Tool
* Follow Me Tool
* Copy and Array methods
These tools help students modify objects accurately, create repeated elements, and refine their design models professionally.
MODULE 4: 3D Modeling & Volume Creation
This module emphasized transforming 2D drawings into 3D interior forms through:
* Push/Pull Tool application
* Creating walls, floors, and ceilings
* Extruding 2D shapes into 3D structures
* Understanding height, depth, and spatial volume
* Developing basic solid forms for interior layouts
The session strengthened students’ understanding of spatial modeling, proportion, and digital visualization, forming a strong foundation for advanced interior design projects.
